ACTC – Assistance Center of Towson Churches

Assistance Center of Towson ChurchesThe Center offers an ecumenical program providing help to poor and needy families in our community. A director and a team of trained volunteers interview each applicant to determine their specific needs, The Center provides emergency services of a five day supply of nonperishable food and vouchers for assistance with shelter, prescriptions, fuel and other necessities. Volunteers always needed.

While ACTC is grateful for the donations of all food items, the clients benefit most from the items on the following list:

• Cereal (cold)
• Canned Fruit
• Tuna
• Peanut Butter and Jelly
• Rice
• Spaghetti and Spaghetti Sauce
• Soup
• Dry Milk (in quart envelopes)
• Canned Vegetables (corn, peas, green beans, tomatoes, etc.)
• Potatoes (canned or boxed)
• Macaroni & Cheese
• Pork & Beans
• Pasta Meals (with meat)
• Canned Meat (beef stew, chili, Spam, etc.)
• Saltines (boxes with individual packages)

Adopt-A-Family

In cooperation with the Baltimore County Department of Social Services, we help several families by providing school supplies to their children. At Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, we collect food and gift cards to ensure that these families have joyous holidays.

Appalachian Ministries

Episcopal Appalachian MinistriesThe mission of the Episcopal Appalachian Ministries is to inspire, nurture and affirm those who serve the unique needs of the people of Appalachia through advocacy and education working through Diocesan channels. Volunteer Work teams help local people rebuild and repair homes.

The Baltimore Station

Baltimore StationThe Baltimore Station, Inc. operates two unique transitional stations for homeless men recovering from addiction. Using innovative strategies to restore quality of life and productivity to the homeless, job training, employment counseling, medical and legal assistance are provided in a safe and supportive environment. These men are given encouragement that promotes their ability to regain self-sufficiency and become a valuable part of society again.

Bishop Claggett Center

The Bishop Claggett CenterThe Bishop Claggett Center in Frederick County is the retreat, camp and conference facility owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. The Claggett Center is a member of Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers, Inc. and is in continuous operation throughout the year, hosting retreats and conferences for a wide variety of guests. The Claggett Center also offers youth programs, including summer camps, year round conferences, and a variety of programs for adults.

Episcopal Community Services of Maryland

Episcopal Community Services of MarylandECSM is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. ECSM's mission is “to provide intervention and prevention services for men, women and children whose lives, communities and hopes for the future have been diminished by extreme poverty, drug abuse and homelessness."

Episcopal Relief and Development

Episcopal Relief and DevelopmentEpiscopal Relief and Development is a ministry of The Episcopal Church, and responds to human suffering around the world. ERD's mission is to provide emergency assistance after disasters, rebuild communities, and help children and families climb out of poverty.

At Holy Comforter, we are especially supportive of ERD's New Orleans Rebuild program, through which volunteer work crews assist with the rebuilding of New Orleans in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Volunteer works crews are assigned to assist local residents rebuild their homes.

Sarah's Hope

Sarah's Hope Outreach Center is a program of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in partnership with Abraham's Tent Coalition and the Baltimore County Department of Social Services. It is the first ever day resource center for women and children who are experiencing homelessness in Baltimore County. Located at the Eastern Family Resource Center, Sarah's Hope provides comprehensive services such as food, clothing, personal hygiene supplies, showers, laundry and respite. Volunteers are needed to work various shifts for meal service, laundry and shower supervision and guest reception.
